BOTSWANA

Overview

Botswana, located in Southern Africa, stands out as a captivating destination celebrated for its pristine wilderness and diverse natural landscapes. At the heart of Botswana's allure is the Okavango Delta, a UNESCO World Heritage site famed for its intricate waterways and abundant wildlife, offering visitors unparalleled opportunities for safari adventures. The delta's seasonal floods transform the landscape, attracting a stunning array of birds and mammals. In contrast, the vast Kalahari Desert captivates with its expansive horizons and unique desert-adapted species, providing a glimpse into ancient cultures like the San people who have thrived in this harsh environment for centuries. Botswana's national parks and reserves, such as Chobe and Moremi, showcase a rich tapestry of ecosystems where encounters with elephants, lions, and hippos are common. With its natural beauty, cultural heritage, and thriving wildlife, Botswana promises an enriching journey through some of Africa's most spectacular and diverse landscapes.

Botswana is a sanctuary where nature reigns and the human spirit can find peace and inspiration in the untamed wilderness."
- Dereck Joubert

JANUARY

In January, Botswana is at the peak of its rainy season, characterised by warm to hot temperatures ranging from 25°C to 35°C (77°F to 95°F). The increased rainfall results in lush landscapes and replenished water sources, creating excellent conditions for birdwatching as migratory species flock to the area. However, the rains can also make some roads challenging to navigate, especially in remote regions. Despite this, January offers a unique and vibrant experience of Botswana's natural beauty and wildlife.
